Title : Meeting the standard? Can Grade 11 Manitoba geography students successfully complete a true inquiry project?
Description : The national geography standards state that students by the time they complete Grade 12 should be able to plan and organize a geographic research project and by acquiring, organizing and analyzing geographic information should be able to formulate valid generalizations from the results of various kinds of geographic inquiry and evaluate the answers to geographic questions. This presentation reflects on my education, experiences, professional development, teaching progression and teaching methods as well as other factors and how they can influence the geography students in my classroom and foster an inquiry approach while reaching curriculum outcomes. This presentation will verify if students from Grade 11 have the knowledge and skills to successfully implement geographic tools and techniques to complete a true inquiry project.
